Maureen Gaitings was a dear friend, whose death in 1977 changed my life. Maureen was part of the photography community in New Haven, CT in the 1970s. She volunteered at Aperture Gallery owned by Joan & Edward Nowak. I taught her color printing on Saturdays at the Aperture Annex (a reconverted pigeon loft into a rental and darkroom school. She died upon my return from doing a story on Belfast (my portfolio is reprinted in the above Portfolio section). The death to a middle twenty year old, simply asked me the question what you doing & for whom?
